45-Day Returns & Refunds

Eligible items may be returned within 45 days after delivery under our Returns & Refunds Policy. A compatible cartridge that is not recognized on first installation qualifies for your choice of a full refund or no-cost replacement when both installation and reporting occur within that window, after reasonable troubleshooting. A full refund includes the product price and applicable tax; original shipping charges are not refunded. The cartridge must be returned using the prepaid label we provide. We issue the refund or ship the replacement after the return receives its first carrier acceptance scan. If a replacement is unavailable, we issue the full refund.

3-Year Limited Warranty

Cartra products include a 3-year limited warranty for eligible manufacturing and print-quality defects, subject to the terms presented when you purchase. The warranty excludes normal toner depletion, expected wear, and improper storage or handling. For orders placed on or after August 18, 2026, first-install chip-recognition coverage is limited to cartridges installed and reported within 45 days after delivery. Printer firmware or program changes after that window are not covered, but unrelated eligible defects retain their three-year coverage. Replacement is the default remedy after reasonable troubleshooting and return with our prepaid label. If replacement is unavailable or impractical, Cartra refunds the affected product price and applicable tax; original shipping is not refunded. For a multipack, the remedy ordinarily covers only the defective cartridge. A replacement is covered for the longer of the original warranty's remaining term or 90 days after replacement delivery. If your printer model ends in the letter "e", please check if our printer has HP+ enabled. HP+ forces your printer to only allow OEM cartridges. If your printer model doesn't end in the letter "e", or you don't have HP+ enabled, then our cartridges will work well for you.

How to check if HP+ is enabled on your printer

Find your printer's serial number on the back of the machine.
Visit the HP Warranty Status Checker.
Enter in your serial number.
Check the value under "Service type". If the service type includes the word "HP+", then it is enabled. If not, then you're clear.

Disable Printer Updates

It is highly recommended that you disable automatic updates on your printer. These updates serve no purpose other than to coerce you into solely purchasing expensive OEM cartridges by blocking our chips. Our cartridges will install and perform as expected if they are installed within 30 days of delivery. However, if you decide to purchase multiple or a 4-pack and store them for 6 months for example, this step is highly important to ensure our cartridges will always install and perform well into the future.

Of course, if you forget this step and run into any chip issues, we will always replace your cartridges free of charge.

To disable printer updates, follow these simple steps:

On your printer, find the settings icon. It usually looks like a gear, and you might have to swipe down from the top of your screen to see it.
Scroll down and select "Printer Maintenance" > "Update the Printer" > "Printer Update Options".
Choose "Do Not Check" and confirm.

Will a compatible cartridge void my printer warranty?

Using a non-HP cartridge does not by itself void HP's limited warranty. HP states, however, that damage or failure attributable to a non-HP cartridge is not covered by that warranty. Review the printer manufacturer's warranty for your exact model.
