HP "Maintenance Kit Low" Message: What It Means and Which Kit Your Printer Needs

Cartra Tech |

"Maintenance Kit Low" means your HP LaserJet's maintenance parts, such as the fuser and rollers, are nearing the end of their life. HP says printers show these alerts when important parts like the fuser or rollers are near the end of their lifespan (HP). HP's user guide for the LaserJet Enterprise 600 series also says you do not need to replace the kit yet unless print quality is no longer acceptable, so have a replacement ready (HP user guide).

To find the right kit, look up your printer model in the table below, or browse all HP printer maintenance kits.

What HP says the message means

HP's guide to LaserJet maintenance kits says that when parts such as the fuser or rollers are nearing the end of their lifespan, the printer may show an error alert, and that you should check your printer's manual if you are not sure what a message means (source).

For the LaserJet Enterprise M601, M602 and M603, HP's user guide describes "Maintenance Kit low" this way: the actual supply life remaining might vary, you should consider having a replacement kit available, and you do not need to replace it until print quality is no longer acceptable (source). Other models may word this differently, so check your own printer's manual.

M607, M608 and M609 owners: compatible or Genuine HP L0H24A?

We sell two L0H24A kits for the LaserJet Enterprise M607, M608, M609 and the Managed E60055–E60175 models:

Both product pages list the same printer models and the same parts in the box: one fuser (RM2-1256), one transfer roller (RM2-6800), one separation tool (RC5-3828), five separation rollers (RM2-6772), five pickup rollers (RM2-1275), one pair of gloves and one instruction manual.

What's in a maintenance kit

Contents vary by kit. Most of our kits include a fuser plus transfer and feed or pickup rollers, but the part numbers and quantities differ by model, and some kits are smaller. For example, the CE484A product page lists one fuser. Before you order, check the "In The Box" list on the product page for your kit, linked in the table above.

FAQ

Do I have to replace the kit as soon as "Maintenance Kit Low" appears?

For the LaserJet Enterprise M601, M602 and M603, HP's user guide says no: you do not need to replace the maintenance kit until print quality is no longer acceptable, but you should have a replacement ready (HP user guide). For other models, check your printer's manual.

What parts does a maintenance kit replace?

HP lists the fuser assembly, pickup rollers, separation rollers and transfer rollers as common components, and says the parts vary by printer model (HP). For our kits, the exact parts are in the "In The Box" list on each product page.

How do I know which kit fits my printer?

Find your printer's model number, then match it to the table above. HP says the model number is on a label on the printer, and also on a printed configuration page (HP). Each of our product pages lists the printer models the kit works with.

Are these kits 110V or 220V?

Every kit in this article is the 110V version. HP explains that 110V kits are for regions with 110 to 120 volt power, like North America, and 220V kits are for 220 to 240 volt regions (HP).
