Direct answer: HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw and MFP 3301cdw / 3301fdw / 3301sdw take HP 218A (standard yield) or 218X (high yield) toner — same family, different page count.
We sell both as full-color 4-packs with smart chips installed (no chip transfer):
- Compatible HP 218A 4-pack — ~1,300 black / ~1,200 color · ~4.3¢/page on the full set
- Compatible HP 218X 4-pack — ~3,200 black / ~2,500 color · ~2.5¢/page on the full set
Not sure which yield? Start with HP 218A vs 218X.

| Printer | Toner family | Buy |
|---|---|---|
| Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw | 218A / 218X | 218A pack or 218X pack |
| Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301cdw | 218A / 218X | same packs |
| Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw | 218A / 218X | same packs |
| Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw | 218A / 218X | same packs |
These are not 210A/210X (4201 / 4301) or 206A/206X (M255 / M283). Read the label on the cartridge already in the printer.
When to pick A vs X
Occasional color jobs → 218A. Replace toner more than a couple of times a year → 218X for fewer swaps and lower cost per page.
FAQ
Will compatible 218 toner work in my 3201 / 3301?
Yes for the printers listed above, when you buy the chipped pack that matches your yield (A or X). Our packs ship with smart chips installed.
Does this void the HP warranty?
Using a non-HP cartridge does not by itself void HP’s limited printer warranty. Damage HP attributes to a non-HP cartridge is a different question.
HP+ / Instant Ink?
Those programs do not accept compatible toner. If you are not sure the printer was never enrolled, ask before you order.
Ready to order: 218A 4-pack or 218X 4-pack.
