hp 53a vs 53x — same black LaserJet toner for the same printers. The only real difference is page yield (and cost per page).
53A (Q7553A) is the standard-yield black — about 3,000 pages. Buy this when you print lightly.
53X (Q7553X) is the high-yield black — about 7,000 pages. Same fit. Fewer swaps. Better cost per page if the printer runs often.
| Feature | 53A | 53X |
|---|---|---|
| Black yield | ~3,000 (Q7553A) | ~7,000 (Q7553X) |
| Best for | Light / occasional | Regular office use |
| Printers | LaserJet M2727nf MFP; P2014; P2015 | |
Mono black only — there is no 53 color pack. Not 49A/49X or 51A/51X. Read the label on the cartridge already in the printer.
We sell a compatible 53A black (Q7553A) and a compatible 53X high-yield black (Q7553X), chips installed.
When to buy which: replace toner more than a couple of times a year → start with 53X (about 2.3× the pages). Occasional printing → 53A is enough. If the label says 53X, stay on X unless you intentionally want fewer pages per cartridge.
FAQ
What is hp 53a vs 53x in one sentence?
Same M2727 / P2014 / P2015 printers; 53A is standard yield (~3,000), 53X is high yield (~7,000).
Are 53A and 53X for the same printers?
Yes. Same family. Only the yield changes.
Is there a 53 4-pack?
No. These are single black cartridges only.
Does compatible toner void the printer warranty?
Using a non-HP cartridge does not by itself void HP’s limited printer warranty. Damage HP attributes to a non-HP cartridge is a different question.
HP+ / Instant Ink?
Those programs do not accept compatible toner. If you are not sure the printer was never enrolled, ask before you order.
