HP 131A vs 131X: same black LaserJet toner for the same printers. The difference is page yield (and cost per page).
131A (CF210A) is the standard-yield black — about 1,600 pages. Buy this when you print lightly.
131X (CF210X) is the high-yield black — about 2,400 pages. Same fit. Fewer swaps. Better cost per page if the printer runs often.
| Feature | 131A | 131X |
|---|---|---|
| Black yield | ~1,600 (CF210A) | ~2,400 (CF210X) |
| Best for | Light / occasional | Regular office use |
| Printers | LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw; MFP M276nw | |
These are the black cartridges in the 131 color family. Cyan is CF211A, yellow CF212A, magenta CF213A — this page is A vs X for black only. Not 128A/128X or 125A. Read the label on the cartridge already in the printer.
We sell a compatible 131A black (CF210A) and a compatible 131X high-yield black (CF210X), chips installed.
When to buy which: replace black toner more than a couple of times a year → start with 131X (about 1.5× the pages). Occasional printing → 131A is enough. If the label says 131X, stay on X unless you intentionally want fewer pages per cartridge.
FAQ
Are 131A and 131X for the same printers?
Yes. Same M251nw / M276nw family. Only the black yield changes.
Is 131A a full color set?
No. 131A / 131X here means the black cartridge (CF210A / CF210X). Colors are separate SKUs.
Does compatible toner void the printer warranty?
Using a non-HP cartridge does not by itself void HP’s limited printer warranty. Damage HP attributes to a non-HP cartridge is a different question.
HP+ / Instant Ink?
Those programs do not accept compatible toner. If you are not sure the printer was never enrolled, ask before you order.
Ready to order: compatible HP 131A or compatible HP 131X.
