HP 414A vs 414X: same Color LaserJet toner family for the same printers. The difference is page yield (and cost per page).
414A is the standard-yield set (W2020A–W2023A): black about 2,400 pages; cyan / yellow / magenta about 2,100 each. Buy this when you print lightly, or you only need one color.
414X is the high-yield set (W2020X–W2023X): black about 7,500 pages; colors about 6,000 each. Same fit. Fewer swaps. Better cost per page if the printer runs often.

Not 410A/410X (M452 / M477). Not 218A/218X or 210A/210X. Read the label on the cartridge already in the printer.
We sell a compatible 414A 4-pack (W2020A set) and a compatible 414X 4-pack (W2020X high yield), chips installed. Singles are on each pack page if you only need one color.
When to buy which: replace toner more than a couple of times a year → start with 414X. Occasional color jobs → 414A is enough. If the label says 414X, stay on X unless you intentionally want fewer pages per cartridge.
FAQ
Are 414A and 414X for the same printers?
Yes. Same M454 / M479 / M455 / M480 family. Only the yield changes.
Will 414 fit an M452 or M477?
No. Those take 410A / 410X (CF410), not 414.
Does compatible toner void the printer warranty?
Using a non-HP cartridge does not by itself void HP’s limited printer warranty. Damage HP attributes to a non-HP cartridge is a different question.
HP+ / Instant Ink?
Those programs do not accept compatible toner. If you are not sure the printer was never enrolled, ask before you order.
