hp 12a vs 12x — same HP black toner family for LaserJet 1010-class printers. The only real difference is page yield (and cost per page).
12A (Q2612A) is the standard-yield black — about 2,000 pages. Buy this when print volume is light or home use.
12X (Q2612X) is the high-yield black — about 3,000 pages (~1.5×). Same fit. Fewer swaps. Lower cost per page when the printer runs steadily.

This comparison is black 12A vs black 12X singles only. No multipack invent — if a pack listing is not on Cartra, it is not part of this vs. Not 11A / 11X. Read the label on the cartridge already in the printer.
We sell a compatible 12A black (Q2612A) and a compatible 12X high-yield black (Q2612X), chips installed.
When to buy which: steady print volume, or you replace black toner often → start with 12X (more pages, lower cost per page at nearly the same street price). Light / occasional home printing → 12A is enough. If the label says 12X / Q2612X, stay on X unless you intentionally want fewer pages per cartridge.
